Support the “Give a Call of Hope” Campaign by Donating No-Longer-Used Cell Phones to Latina Victims of Domestic Violence
Nearly 1 in 4 Latinas will experience domestic violence during their lifetime. And Latinas are only half as likely to report abuse to authorities as survivors from other ethnic/racial groups. To help support awareness of domestic violence prevention, Casa de Esperanza, the leading national domestic violence prevention agency focused on Latinas, has launched the “Regala la Llamada de Esperanza” (Give a Call of Hope) wireless phone donation drive campaign to help provide victims of domestic violence cell phones with free minutes for emergency and support service calls. Wireless phones are an important technology tool to help victims of abuse feel safer and less isolated by providing them with a way to call emergency or support services, employers, family and friends. To help put cell phones in the hands of victims, no-longer-used wireless phones, batteries and accessories, Casa de Esperanza is asking for donations to be made to HopeLine® from Verizon’s national cell phone recycling and re-use program. The HopeLine program works with shelters and non-profit organizations that focus on the issue of domestic violence to provide refurbished wireless phones with free airtime to victims. The program also provides these organizations with cash grants to support programs that further prevention efforts. Since its inception in 2001, HopeLine has provided more than 123,000 phones with 406 million minutes of free wireless service to victims of domestic violence. How to Donate Your Phone(s)
The HopeLine program accepts wireless phones from all manufacturers in any condition. Donated phones are not tax deductible.
Print the HopeLine postage paid mailing label www.verizonwireless.com/hopelinemailinglabel and mail in your phone in a box or large envelope. It’s that easy!
I support this cause as I was once one of these women. I was a victim at one point in my life and now a survivor. It is a hard situation to be in. Dont wish it on anyone. I am helping and so should you.
