Road to Marathon

So before I was pregnant I could run, not breaking records but I would do 5Ks, 10Ks, and even some half marathons.  While I was pregnant I was unable to workout, exercise, and bearly allowed to walk.  And my recovery from my c-section has been a hard one.  I started walking and doing Zumba after 6 weeks.  Even though it has been hard to get back into the routine of things, I have tried my best to at least do something every week.
This is me and baby Gia.  Our first official walk, 5 miles.  She did really good, and I even better because I crossed the finish line.

This is my husband, baby Gia, and me after my first 5K of the year.  Yes, you read that right.  3.1 miles, and I crossed the finish line in 40 minutes.  My husband had a foot injury so he pushed the baby in the stroller and once she woke up, she wanted to get in her Britax carrier.  It was an awesome feeling crossing that line once again.

This is what I am doing:

Monday-Treadmill 1 hr, Zumba 1 hr
Tuesday-Walk 3 miles
Wednesday-Run/Jog, Walk 2.88 miles
Thursday-Walk 3 miles
Saturday-Zumba 1 hr

This is my schedule that I am suppose to follow every week.  Some weeks I do it all, some weeks I only do one day, but I do something.  I have not lost any weight.  I cannot diet because I am breastfeeding.  But my time is getting better and better.

My biggest supporter and coach has been my husband.  He is helping me every step of the way.  He walks with me on Tuesday and Thursdays.  My bestfriend works out with me on Mondays.  And so are my co-workers.  We have started a running team. Even though right now our motto is to Run, Jog, Walk, or Crawl~to the finish line, and of course to have fun doing it!  After work on Wednesday, we go to the park accross the street and run together.  While we all start together, we do not finish together.  But we are all there at the end.  And we have every fitness level from beginners to advance.  The point is a have a great support group.

My first goal is to finish a 5K in under 30 minutes.

So follow along my road back.  Every month I will update where I am, if I have lost any weight and update you on my races.  Accountability can make someone accomplish their goals, so check on me, ask me, give me advice, etc..

Do you run/jog/walk?  Do you have a goal?  Do you have a suggestion or advice for me?  I would love to hear your comments, questions, or concerns...

That's awesome! How amazing to share the finish line with your little one :) Being active now as a mom is a lot more meaningful my kids go with the hubs and I with the gym and I feel like i'm implementing the importance of being active and going out to play in them.

You GO girl! I commend you. It's not easy to get whipped back into shape but it looks like you're doing an amazing job. You are an inspiration. I, too, ran a lot. I even completed 3 halts and a handful of 5Ks. Pathetically, I don't do a damn thing now. Your schedule inspired me to get off my tuft and out my guys membership into use. Gracias :-) I look forward to reading your progress.

Congratulations! I really need to get on some sort of exercise routine. It sounds like you have yours planned out nicely!

Wow!! I am seriously impressed and motivated. I need to exercise more but find it so difficult to find the time. But you have an actual schedule. I think that is what I need to do. Thank you

Ugh, so you make me feel like a terrible person because I don't do any of this! I have no children and really have no excuse not to exercise but I have trouble motivating myself to start. I do have a goal, however. To lose 7 lbs in 3 weeks. Eeeeek!

I really need to get in shape... My son just turned one and I am 10 lbs. Away from my goal. I'll tell you a secret though... I don't want to stop nursing yet because I depend on those extra calories that I burn every day. Is that bad?

That is awesome. Sometimes you just have to exercise not to loose weight but to be heart healthy. I just joined and exercise class to keep myself motivates. I and doing some strength training and kickboxing. I want to try yoga, but I am chicken. Keep up the good work. Patricia

Thanks everyone I am loving the feed back. @Ruby-yes, it is implementing great habits for our kids to follow. @Sujeiry-When I didnt have a baby and even now, I still lack motivation and dedication. @Pattie-I have been thinking the same thing, glad I am not the only one. Ladies, if you are doing something GREAT JOB, if you are going to start JUST DO IT, and if you have no motivation to start FIND SOMETHING THAT IS NOT CONSIDERED EXERCISE TO YOU, like I did. Running is fun for me. Zumba is fun! GOOD LUCK!
