Disney's Animation Research Library

*
On my trip to Disney a couple of months ago, I was able to get to see where all the magic is at.  The Disney's Animation Research Library is where all the art for the movies is stored.  I got to go behind the scenes, meet wonderful people who take their job very seriously and help preserve all of our beloved Disney favorites.

The animation library stores so much art from background to clay model characters of all the movies.

On our tour we learned so much about how all the magic happens.  Unfortunately all the art from all the movies is not here, why?  Because in the beginning Walt would give the art away, or once they were done with shooting one scene, get rid of it.  Some art has been returned back to Disney, some has even arrived anonymously.  Not everyone has access to this art.  Many items were not preserved before the animation library was created.  Every one that works here takes their job very seriously.  They all wear gloves and handle the art with special tools.  Depending on what type of piece of art they are from the movie, they are each stored separate and differently.

It was amazing to see this Pinocchio that Walt actually handled, check out the picture next to it.  The background to movie seems like very large pieces but in reality are not.  They are one sheet.  It was so great to see all of my Disney favorites and learned how they were created.

***Disclosure-This tour was part of my DisneyInHomeBloggers event.  These are my own honest opinions.
